It has been said that there are more golf courses per capita in the Seattle area than anywhere. The municipal courses at West Seattle, Jefferson Park and Jackson Park are some of the best opportunities for both value and quality of play. You can reserve a tee-time up to 30 days in advance (see the Jackson Park Golf Club link below); and they're open all year.
There are numerous other courses, public and private, 9 and 18 holes, throughout Seattle. If you love to golf, check out any of these local courses:
JACKSON PARK GOLF CLUB
1000 NE 135th Street
206-363-4747
Golf in the beautiful Northwest is characterized by one of the city's oldest public golf courses Jackson Park Municipal Golf Course. The course is a nice challenge based on a scene that has been open since 1930.
The 18-hole course is a decent test at over 6,200 yards, with wide fairways and relatively small greens. Some have said the toughest holes at Jackson Park are at the first, the eighth, and the eighteenth holes. A big drive is required on the par-5 first hole in order to go for the green in two. Otherwise, a player will likely need to lay up, in order to avoid the creek that lies 100 yards from the green. The eighth hole is a killer par 3--it's 216 yards from the blue tees, and is bordered by bunkers and Thornton Creek. The finishing hole is only a 401-yard par 4, but the green slopes severely from left to right.
